About this tool

Cropping lets you cut away the parts of an image you do not need. This is useful for reframing a photo, removing distracting edges, or fitting an image to a specific aspect ratio required by a platform. Social media sites, for example, each have their own preferred dimensions for profile pictures, cover photos, and post images.

The cropper gives you a visual drag handle over your image. You can move and resize the crop area freely, or lock it to a preset aspect ratio so the proportions stay fixed. The actual pixel manipulation happens on a Canvas element in your browser, and the cropped result is available for immediate download.

Frequently asked questions

Can I crop to exact pixel dimensions?

Yes. You can either drag the crop area visually or enter specific pixel values for the width and height of the crop region.

What aspect ratios are available?

You can crop freeform with no constraints, or lock to common ratios like 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 3:2, and others. The crop box will maintain the selected ratio as you resize it.

Does cropping reduce image quality?

Cropping itself does not reduce quality since it just removes the outer pixels. The cropped area retains its original resolution. However, if you export as JPEG or WebP, the re-encoding step may introduce minor compression artifacts.
